Privacy policy

Who we are
TensionLine is operated by an individual sole operator. For any privacy question, including access and erasure requests, contact support@tensionline.app.
What we collect
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Your email address and display name, from Google Sign-In | To identify your account. We never receive or store your Google password. |
| If you request beta access: your Google email address and display name, and anything you choose to write in the request | So a person can decide the request, and so we can email you once it is approved. Kept with your account if you join; delete it by asking support@tensionline.app if you do not. |
| Your portfolio data — transactions, holdings, accounts, cash | This is the input the analysis runs on. It is the reason the product exists. |
| Your settings, notes, and investment theses | To produce and keep your analysis. |
| Server logs (IP address, request paths, timestamps) | Operating and securing the service. |
| Analytics: the page opened, the site you arrived from, and the country, browser and screen size of the visit | To see which pages are useful. No cookies are set. Inside the product the page address is reduced to its shape before it is sent, so it never carries your portfolio or your holdings. |
We do not ask for, and have no use for, your brokerage credentials. TensionLine cannot connect to a broker.
Who processes it
A small number of service providers help run TensionLine, and each receives only what its job needs:
- Hosting — the servers and the database.
- Sign-in — Google confirms your email address. It does not receive your portfolio.
- AI summaries — text sent to be summarised, including the figures needed to narrate a holding. Not used to train models.
- Email delivery (EU) — your address and the email we send you, only if you requested beta access or turned email on. No open or click tracking.
- Market-data sources — ticker symbols only, never who holds them.
- Analytics (EU) — the page opened and the country, browser and screen size of the visit. Never which portfolio or which holding you opened.
The current list of providers is available on request from support@tensionline.app.
We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for advertising. There are no advertising scripts, and nothing here follows you to other sites. The only third-party script is the cookieless analytics described below.
Analytics and cookies
We count page visits with a privacy-focused analytics service hosted in the European Union. It sets no cookies, stores no advertising identifier, and does not follow you between sites — so there is nothing here to consent to and no banner to dismiss.
It records the page address, the site you arrived from, and the country, browser and screen size of the visit. Inside the product the page address is reduced to its shape before it leaves your browser — the portfolio and the ticker are replaced by placeholders — so the analytics service is never told what you hold.
The product also sets a single strictly-necessary cookie that keeps you signed in; it carries no tracking identifier and is not used for profiling.
Legal basis (EU/EEA/UK)
- Contract — processing your portfolio to provide the analysis you asked for.
- Legitimate interests — keeping the service running, secure, and free of abuse, and counting page visits so we can tell which pages are useful.
How long we keep it
Your account data is kept while your account exists. Delete your account and the personal data goes with it. Shared reference data — prices, exchange rates, the symbol list — is not linked to any person and is unaffected. Server logs are short-lived.
If you turn email on, we keep a record of what was sent to you and when — so we can answer "why didn't I get an email" and so the same thing is not sent twice. Those records are deleted after 90 days, and immediately if you delete your account. Your email provider and the delivery provider keep their own delivery logs under their own policies.
Your rights
You can request access to your data, correction, export, restriction, objection, or erasure by emailing support@tensionline.app. You can also delete your account yourself, from the bottom of any portfolio's settings page — it removes your account and every portfolio, holding, thesis, briefing and analysis in one operation, and it cannot be undone. If you are in the EU/EEA or UK you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
International transfers
Some of these providers operate in the United States. Where personal data is transferred there, it is done under the transfer mechanisms those providers offer (standard contractual clauses or an equivalent framework).
Children
TensionLine is not intended for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date above and, for anything that affects how your data is used, tell account holders directly.
